Rob Cross is a highly respected English darts player, known by the fitting nickname "Voltage." He began his professional career relatively late, but made a meteoric rise in the PDC from 2017.
His absolute career highlight occurred in 2018 when he won the PDC World Darts Championship in his debut. In a memorable final, Cross defeated defending champion van Gerwen 6-5 in Sudden Death, and then secured a 7-2 victory against Phil The Power Taylor - the retiring darts legend and 16-time world champion. These sensational victories catapulted Voltage to number 3 in the world rankings.
Beyond this victory, Cross has also proven through his high level of play and outstanding consistency on the oche that his ability to win titles is no fluke. Among other achievements, he won the European Darts Championship in 2019 and 2023, the World Matchplay in 2019, and other darts competitions. Rob Cross continues to be one of the top players in darts, and is currently (July 2025) ranked 11th in the PDC Order of Merit. His exceptional willpower and precise play under pressure are both key factors that have contributed to his many accomplishments.
