Jonny Clayton, who uses 22g Red Dragon Darts, is one of the most famous Welsh dart players of today. His nickname is "The Ferret", which he got during his time in amateur rugby due to his agility back then.

Clayton played in the BDO from 2008 to 2015 and had a mediocre record, but quickly rose to fame after switching to the PDC in 2015. In 2017, he won his first tournament on the PDC Pro Tour and reached a major PDC tournament final for the first time in his career. In 2020, The Ferret, alongside Gerwyn Price, won the World Cup of Darts for Wales. 2021 could have been Clayton's peak, as he was the winner of the Masters, the Premier League, the World Grand Prix, and the World Series of Darts Finals. With four PDC major titles, he became the most successful player in this regard in the 2021 calendar year. With his Premier League victory, Clayton entered the Top 10 of the PDC Order of Merit for the first time.

Due to the death of his father, Clayton was in a poor state in the second half of 2023, but gradually recovered from 2024 to 2025.
